BC Racing's BR-Series coilovers cover the rear-wheel-drive F30 BMW 3 Series with 3-bolt strut top mounts, built around a monotube damper with a linear piston and damping curve and 30 clicks of simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment.

Ride height adjusts independently of spring preload, so a driver dialing in a stance never disturbs how the spring is loaded.

Important Compatibility Information

This kit is built for the rear-wheel-drive F30 3 Series with 3-bolt strut top mounts.

As BC's entry-level coilover, the BR-Series pairs a linear piston and damping curve with 30 clicks of simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment -- a well-controlled street setup without the complexity of a two-way system.

Features

  • Monotube shock design
  • Linear piston and damping curve
  • 30 clicks of simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment
  • Ride height adjustment independent of spring compression
  • Front camber plates standard on the applications that use them

What's Included

  • 4 coilovers, one per corner, shipped fully assembled with preload set at the factory

Conditional on your application: front camber plates and end links ship on the applications that use them, and the rear may reuse the factory top mount on kits BC doesn't supply one for. BC does not publish a per-kit contents list, so treat these as conditional rather than guaranteed for your specific configuration.

Purchase Options

Extreme Low is BC's add-on drop kit: springs and dampers 20mm shorter than the standard kit for roughly 1 to 1.5 inches of additional drop. BC hasn't published a distinct spring rate for the Extreme Low version of this specific kit, and says it sometimes -- but not always -- ships stiffer springs, so don't assume either way.

Swift Springs is an optional upgrade to competition-grade linear-rate springs from Swift, sold as an add-on rather than a rate change within this kit -- pick it if you're building toward a firmer, track-oriented setup.

Ownership Notes

Yes. Get a four-wheel alignment after install or after any major height change, and again after roughly a week of daily driving once things have settled -- skipping it accelerates tire wear. Corner balancing is worth doing on a heavily tracked or caged car, but it isn't required for street use.

Product Specifications

BC rates this kit at 5.5 kg/mm front and 9 kg/mm rear as delivered. Standard kits sit roughly an inch below OEM ride height at maximum height and about 2.5 to 3 inches below OEM at the lowest setting, and BC notes actual ride height can vary with chassis limitations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between BR-Series and DS-Series coilovers?
BR-Series uses a linear piston and damping curve. DS-Series uses BC's proprietary digressive piston, which adds low-speed damping force for less roll, pitch and dive while keeping a linear feel at higher piston speeds. Both give you 30 clicks of simultaneous compression and rebound adjustment -- the difference is the damping curve, not how many adjusters you get.

Do I need an alignment after installing these?
Yes. Get a four-wheel alignment after install or after any major height change, and again after roughly a week of daily driving once things have settled -- skipping it accelerates tire wear. Corner balancing is worth doing on a heavily tracked or caged car, but it isn't required for street use.

What does the Extreme Low option actually change?
It's BC's add-on drop kit: springs and dampers 20mm shorter than the standard kit for roughly 1 to 1.5 inches of additional drop. BC hasn't published a distinct spring rate for the Extreme Low version of this specific kit, and says it sometimes -- but not always -- ships stiffer springs, so don't assume either way.

How harsh is this compared to my stock suspension?
BC builds its off-the-shelf kits with roughly 15 to 20 percent stiffer springs and 20 to 30 percent stiffer damper valving than the factory suspension. That's what allows the shorter unit and the lowering range without leaving the ride harsh.

Can I change the spring rate later?
Yes, within a window: the factory spring rate can go up 2 kg or down 2 kg without a valving change. Beyond that, the damper needs to be re-valved.

Is this coilover kit rebuildable?
Yes. Every component is individually catalogued rather than sealed into the unit, so corners, lower mounts, springs, lock rings, adjustment knobs and dust boots can all be ordered separately, and the kit can be rebuilt and re-valved instead of replaced outright.
